Background
This is the anti-mouse CD3e antibody, clone 145-2C11, an Armenian hamster IgG raised against mouse CD3 epsilon. 145-2C11 is one of the most widely used and best-characterized anti-mouse CD3 clones, valued for its ability to engage the CD3/TCR complex on essentially all mature T cells across common mouse strains. Because it binds a pan-T-cell target and can both activate and modulate T cells in vivo, it is a standard reagent for functional immunology, T-cell biology, and tolerance/transplantation studies, as well as for identifying and enumerating T cells by flow cytometry. It also supports IHC on frozen sections, immunoprecipitation, and Western blot. This preparation is produced for in-vivo and functional applications: supplied as low-endotoxin, research-grade material suitable for injection into mice, available in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities, and offered strictly for research use only (RUO). The hamster IgG format and validated reactivity make it a flexible tool for depletion, T-cell modulation, and antigen-detection workflows in mouse models. CD3 epsilon (CD3e) is a signaling subunit of the CD3 complex, which assembles with the T-cell receptor (TCR) alpha/beta (or gamma/delta) heterodimer to form the TCR-CD3 complex on the surface of T lymphocytes. CD3 comprises the CD3 gamma, delta, epsilon, and zeta chains; the epsilon chain pairs with gamma and delta and contributes immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motifs (ITAMs) in its cytoplasmic tail. Following antigen recognition by the TCR, ITAM phosphorylation by Lck initiates the signaling cascade that drives T-cell activation, proliferation, and effector differentiation. Because CD3e is expressed on all mature T cells and is essential for surface TCR assembly and signal transduction, it is both a definitive pan-T-cell marker and a key node for therapeutically modulating T-cell activity.
